Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Christine and I'm Digital Marketing Strategist here at Studio Graphene. It's a pretty broad title, but basically I help our clients make smarter online marketing decisions, and run all public-facing Studio Graphene comms.

How did you get here? (i.e. previous jobs, universities, etc)

After finishing University, I did a stint working in a Psychiatric Clinic before switching things up and taking a role in the Production department in a Digital Agency. There I cut my teeth managing increasingly large and complex projects, before leaving to take on a Digital Marketing Manager role with a FTSE 250 former client.

Realising the more corporate world wasn't for me, I left after a year and set up my own consultancy practice where I focused on working with small businesses and start ups. I met the Studio Graphene team in Summer 2017 on a mutual project, and after working with them for a few months jumped at the chance to essentially bring my consultancy in-house in Spring 2018!

How do you find your background translates into your role at Studio Graphene?

It's invaluable - having been heavily involved in the project management side of things previously before stepping into broader strategic roles means I'm able to marry up big picture planning, whilst still having a trained eye for detail.

The psychology background doesn't hurt either, as even a fundamental understanding of how and why people think and behave as they do is great for all parts of my job.

How is Studio Graphene different from other agencies you’ve worked with / for?

What I most liked about Studio Graphene when I met them is the passion for what they do, and the unabashed talent everyone has!

I also really love working in such a small, close-knit team - the Studio operates in an almost completely flat structure, and every single person is given huge amounts of autonomy in how, when and where they work, and what incentives they want to drive through the company.

What’s the most exciting piece of kit / software / design thinking you’ve discovered recently?

The new Fyuse app is pretty cool - Fyuse lets you take 3D (spatial) photos, and it's free - which is a bonus!

You might've started seeing spatial photos on Instagram recently, they've been used by red carpet event companies for a while now, but it's awesome this tech is now open for everyone to play with.

How worried are you about the rise of the machines?

I am absolutely convinced we (as a species) have architected our own demise.

What's your spirit animal?

A cat! According to BrainFall.

"The cat is independent and curious. You may find that you are often drawn to darkness, wanting to uncover what hides within the unknown. You have vast life experiences that make you adventurous and emotionally deep."

Sounds about right - also cats are reported to sleep between 12 - 16 hours a day, which is something I could get on board with.

What does your failsafe playlist contain?

At the moment I'm actually going through a heavy Kate Bush phase, but generally it's a fairly heady mix. I'm also loving Mr Jukes and Hippo Campus (great sunshine music) but my all time favourites are American Football.
