Introduction

Cimple is a procurement marketplace connecting buyers and suppliers across the public and private sector, built to make bidding for public sector work more accessible, particularly for SMEs who find existing procurement tools complex and expensive.

Procurement technology has historically been built for the buy-side, leaving suppliers to manage fragmented accounts across multiple platforms, repeatedly entering the same information with little connection between them. This creates friction and disengagement for suppliers and, ultimately, less competition and poorer outcomes for buyers.

Together, we prioritised the capabilities that could give suppliers a genuine reason to engage with Cimple: smarter opportunity matching, better intelligence on competitors and buyers and AI-powered guidance built on Claude Sonnet.

Solution

Cimple partnered with Studio Graphene to turn an existing body of strategy, market analysis and user research into a focused, technically feasible MVP for the supplier-side experience.

Together, we prioritised the capabilities that could give suppliers a genuine reason to engage with Cimple: smarter opportunity matching, better intelligence on competitors and buyers and AI-powered guidance built on Claude Sonnet.

Cimple product 5

Cimple’s existing opportunity matching relied on exact classification-code equality, which could miss relevant work and gave suppliers little visibility into why an opportunity had or hadn’t been surfaced. Studio Graphene scoped a weighted, explainable approach combining keyword relevance, semantic similarity and geographic proximity, alongside classification hierarchy matching. Suppliers can receive more relevant opportunities, with a visible match strength and greater context around why each one has been recommended.

For the AI-guided bidding assistant, Studio Graphene worked with Cimple to make a deliberate product decision. Rather than using Claude Sonnet to generate bid content in an already crowded market, the agent focuses on a more differentiated role: helping suppliers understand an opportunity, assess whether it is worth pursuing, identify what the buyer requires and navigate the process and timeline. This puts AI to more useful work earlier in the bidding journey, while also avoiding the transparency and declaration risks associated with AI-generated bid content.

Studio Graphene also designed the new guidance experience and document-handling flows, allowing suppliers to bring procurement documents into the agent for analysis. A deeper integration path using MCP was scoped to connect Claude with a supplier’s own sources, with the Cimple-native experience prioritised first and broader integration planned as the product evolves.

Results

The result is a focused supplier-side product direction that moves Cimple beyond simply listing procurement opportunities. Smarter, explainable matching helps suppliers identify the work most relevant to them, competitor and buyer insights provide greater market context and the Claude Sonnet-powered guidance agent helps them understand what an opportunity requires before deciding whether to pursue it.

For SMEs in particular, this creates a more accessible way to navigate public sector procurement without relying on expensive enterprise tools or managing disconnected sources of information. For Cimple, it establishes the foundation for a differentiated supplier experience built around helping businesses find, understand and pursue the right opportunities, rather than becoming just another procurement platform they have to manage.
